Hermine 47

texte francais.
We are interested in buying a Hermine 47 aluminium hull and having it completed at the
Chantier Naval Etoile Marine in St Malo. (This hull is mentioned on the webpage of this company.)
Does anyone have personal experience or know something about these boats (sailing properties?,
quality of construction?, how many hulls have been produced?, etc.)? I have read carefully
(with dictionary, spending many hours!) the essai in Loisirs Nautiques No 370/2002,
and the review is quite positive. The building quality and strength seems to be high.
We are looking for a robust, strong and seaworthy boat that can be sailed short-handed if necessary,
and that can take us to all corners of the world including cold areas (Svalbard, Greenland, Alaska).
Are there any specific potential problems that we should look at in this hull that seems to have
been built already in 2003?
We are planning to have a look at the hull in St Malo in the near future. Many thanks for any
information on this topic (or on this hull).
Merci beaucoup,

Bonjour Kenneth,
I do not know the Hermine 47 but i can suggest you to have a look on the following site.
Jean-Francois ANDRE produce very nice sailing boats that are design for your program.
You will need again your dictionnary as it is in french!!!

Hello Kenneth
There is a much better solution the former owner of this shipyard ' chantier de l'étoile ' is still regularly active on this Forum .
Apparently the main reason why he had to stopped is that his boats were of too high quality eg he could not sell them at the
right price . I was interested to buy an hermine 42 reason why I know few things on the matter .
I remember one Hermine 47 brand new was for sale from a Monaco chap last year who was said fed up of this shipyard
problem . Is it the one you are considering ? I live nearby .
In case the former shipyard owner don't contact you I'll dig into old files to find his contact ( see forum insulation of Al boats
unfortunatly in French ) . I was impressed by his technical background and comments . It gave me the feeling he knew all about
Aluminium boats .
Best Regards
David
Hi Again
There we are : pseudo fo this chap is Baami and email address is : seguinrv@wanadoo.fr
You can find recent exchange in forum ' cafe du commerce ' : isolation coque alu .
Based on your plan yuu'd rather check insulation twice and read Baami's view !
Good luck for your search . The Hermine 47 had quite a nice look !

David,
thanks for the information. I'll contact the previous owner of Technimar, but welcome
further comments from others as well.
As far as I understand, this boat is not finished and the hull is now being sold with some
of the interior wood work done and with some equipment (incl. winches). The information
can be found on the webpage:

Best regards,
Kenneth

I have checked the site this is the same hull that has been for sale for at least couple of years . I made an attempt to buy from
this shipyard an Hermine 42 hull ( less finished than that one ) but gave up as I have found the price requested way too high .
I finally bought a brand new Pilot Saloon 41 from wauquiez ( quite a different program ) !
I found very few Hermine owners just one for a 42 close by St Malo . This chap was quite happy about his yacht .
Best of luck for your search and don't hesitate to negotiate
David
Chercher
